Pre-departure Briefing, UK
On 7 May 2008, NMS was invited to lend support to the Pre-departure Briefing for UK students on Mobility Programme to the University of Nottingham Malaysian Campus. Organised by the International Office, NMS seized the oppurtunity to promote Malaysia to the international community.

The briefing started off with important paperwork and reminders from the International Office, followed by an informal presentation on Malaysian culture by NMS. As part of an effort to welcome the UK students, NMS gave out Jalur Gemilangs (Malaysian National Flag), goodie bags and leaflets about Malaysia, courtesy of Tourism Malaysia. Throughout the briefing, the 35-strong audience were excited about the prospects of studying in Malaysia, constantly peppering questions to make sure everything is in place.
"How's the weather?"
"Where's the nearest place to get food?"
"How are the hostels?"
Assisted by four Malaysian students on Mobility Programme from Malaysian Campus, the questions were dealed with as soon as they were asked. NMS went a step further by doing a crash-course on Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language) and then followed up by introducing the Mamak culture as a replacement for pub culture.
After an hour and a half, the briefing was wrapped up at 4pm. Participants have shown high level of enthusiasm and are looking forward to meet more Malaysians already.
"Malaysians may be conservative, but they are smilling all the time!" said one participant.
NMS wish all of them a safe journey and we hope that they will come back with fond memories to share with their fellow countrymen.
Special thanks to:
Mrs Rachel Jessop (International Office)
Mr Chuah Yew Lek
Mr Loo Shen Quang
Mr Low Wai Chun
Mr Seetho Kin Lam
